Never liked his movies, but to see such an influential director get on board with this shit is so depressing
I love most of his films and think he has a wonderfully creative mind, but honestly? Fuck you, James Cameron. You didn't need generative algorithms to produce half your great works, and you sure as fuck don't need them now.
The director says that “the intersection of generative AI and CGI image creation is the next wave” of film technology, as he joins the company behind the popular Stable Diffusion AI model.
His movies are 110% Cameron and I respect that I guess but what the hell is he thinking here. It’s not like he needs money.
Is there some sort of "fear of missing out on the latest trend and be irrelevant" among well-known creatives ? Kinda looks like it
I've heard he sucks to work with, he probably bought I to the "magic" of ai along with a superiority complex like he deserves people's labor
This clown has directed how many movies about how soulless corporations don't care about you or the world??? What a hypocrite
He has used AI for some of the worst 4K remasters I've seen, True Lies and Aliens. They are truly atrocious and a slap in the face of real remastering studios 😭
I think we're at the 'AI can be good for my workflow!' stage artists went through, but for normal people now. Severe lack of information, and can garentee every circle this guy runs in will be very AI positive
The Terminator was literally a fever dream of his.
The writers guild went on strike for exactly this. He's a scab
Cameron has always been totally intellectually bankrupt and has only ever been interested in messing around with film technology. It's all like numbers for him and making art is secondary. Not surprised at all to see him jettison the core "human" part of the process
I mean the guy got sued for plagiarizing Harlan Ellison and lost so this isn’t slightly out of character.
