I was face-timing with my family last year as my father was in the hospital, dying from COVID-triggered/caused illness. They are caring people--politically, liberal Democrats--who follow public health guidance--and know I'm vulnerable. They weren't masking in the hospital public waiting area. 2/2
People who have quit masking can't start masking even just for a few essential public spaces like grocery stores & pharmacies because to do so would require them to acknowledge that they have been and will be putting themselves and others in danger in all the places they don't mask. 1/2
