You've heard of the Great Resignation, but what about the Great Retirement? There are about 2 million more retirees in the U.S. today than predicted by the Federal Reserve, and this can largely be attributed to COVID-19. Pre-pandemic, the participation rate for workers 65 and older hovered around 21%; now, it's down to 19.3%. Even if retirement-age Americans want to work again, it can be a challenge, thanks to ageism and other factors. Last year, older Americans took nearly eight months to find a job, or nine weeks longer than the overall average.
