Pre-pandemic, the participation rate for workers 65 and older hovered around 21%; now, it's down to 19.3%. Even if retirement-age Americans want to work again, it can be a challenge, thanks to ageism and other factors. Last year, older Americans took nearly eight months to find a job, or nine weeks longer than the overall average.
