California judge rules that a report on police in Vallejo bending their badges to mark fatal shootings can remain secret. The judge also closed the hearing to public and press and locked the door to the courtroom. openvallejo.org/2024/10/02/f...
A Solano County Superior Court judge on Wednesday blocked the full release of an investigative report into Vallejo police badge bending in a hearing closed to the public and press.
I was in a collision not too long ago and the responding officer was wearing a badge w/ all the tips bent. What am I going to do, file a complaint against the guy bragging about doing murders when he's proud of the 6 he already got away with? I'm just trying to get a crash report, not get shot.
Police officers deface their badges after they kill a civilian? That is ...um...awful. 😳
I like how they keep it secret - they know people will riot if they see behind the curtain
Transparency is for the weak
Ongoing investigations can be kept from the public. Certain information that would raise privacy concerns is required to be redacted. But, completed investigations are available through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
Good thing no one will ever know. Despicable
I've written about the Vallejo police several times since 2018 or so, and there's A LOT of nasty stuff going on in that town: reason.com/2023/10/16/c...
