Them (a queer publication I follow on Instagram) talked to some trans and nonbinary kids about bathroom bans and they are already doing stuff like not drinking fluids during the day to avoid having to use the bathroom and getting recurring UTI’s
Cis kids are also doing this to avoid the bathroom. My son’s middle school teachers would hand out bathroom passes at the beginning of the year, and give extra credit for any you turned back in at the end of the year.
There's an elementary teacher on youtube I watch sometimes who has talked about her spina bifida and how having an open bathroom policy when she was a kid granted her a measure of privacy and safety when she was a kid so she didn't have to talk about her catheter, & how important that is to students
Jeebus, that's heartbreaking. Gah!
That’s some hard hitting reporting that they cleverly sold with a photo shoot that left the Rolling Stone Stewart in the dust. Respect.
The woman who works at the Plaid closest to me has had recurring UTIs because she's always scheduled alone & so can't pee at work without closing the store, which she can't do if there are any customers in it. And her kid has had UTIs because of how restrictive the school is.
