My mind has been reeling this whole cycle. My whole life, punditry on the Arab American vote was a complete zero. "Will barking that Obama is a Muslim hurt Romney in Michigan" was just not a thing. Then suddenly, the Ar-A vote is a huge focus but they're all presented as single issue voters. 1/
Not voting, when your preferences (trans rights, reproductive rights) are clearly more aligned with one party, does help the other party. You are allowing the other party to take extremely bad positions on those issues and pay no price.
