It's easy to fall into the trap of "This automation will handle the hard part for me" without realizing that it's going to be the other way around.

I was in a resort town last night (post season), and I gotta say that would be my recommendation in that town as well. Their attitude towards service was casual at best. After 45 minutes waiting for a burger I drove to a McDonald's in the next town and got more personal service.

I work in software, and there's a lot of pressure to use AI to speed up. I had AI write a set of tests. They looked right, but I spent a day trying to make them actually test the right thing. It would have taken an hour to write the tests myself.

Deploy these in Detroit and a) It will be disabled by the potholes on the first day b) No risk of passengers getting stuck inside, the locals will have parted it out for scrap within an hour.

So musk's "Robovan" seats 20 ppl and has no steering wheel. It also seems to have no windows and no ground clearance. Not only does it look like a fucking toaster it seems designed specifically to be a death trap. NO WINDOWS. No way to steer. Just go sit in the death trap.
