Linescore for the game. The Yankees scored 3 in the 1st, 4 in the 2nd, 2 in the 7th, 1 in the 9th and 1 in the 10th to finish with 11 runs, 17 hits, and 4 errors. The Giants scored 2 in the 2nd and 3rd, 1 in the 8th, 5 in the 9th, and 2 in the 10th to finish with 12 runs, 14 hits, and 2 errors.
Batting boxscores for the Yankees and Giants. Kelly was 4-5 for the Giants, while Moore was 4-6 for the Yankees. Torriente and Moore hit home runs, Moore made a very costly error in the 10th.
Pitching linescore for the game. Delhi of the Giants got knocked out early, Hall relieved him competently. Smith blew the save for the Giants but ended up with the win. On the Yankees side, Vance pitched into the 9th before imploding, reliever Mogridge didn't get an out, and Curry gave up 2 unearned runs in the 10th and took the loss.

Cristobal Torriente set a new single-season home run record, Dazzy Vance won 30 games, and Heilmann and Hornsby look to be MVP favorites. I posted a season recap here: cloverlandleagues.blogspot.com/2024/09/alt-...cloverlandleagues.blogspot.com/2024/09/alt-...

It's 1 October 1923 for us, and the World Series is around the corner. The Yankees, winners of their fourth consecutive AL pennant with a record-smashing 121 wins, look to defend their crown. Their cross-town rivals and former landlords look to win their first World Series since 1905. 1/2

Team picture of the (fictional) 1923 Yankees from the simulation being played, wearing white jerseys with pinstripes (but no NY logo) and dark blue hats with an interlocking NY. Team members include Ty Cobb, Harry Heilmann, Bullet Rogan, Dobie Moore, and Dazzy Vance.
Team picrture of the (fictional) 1923 New York Giants. They wear a cream-colored jersey with pinstripes and a red interlocking NY over their hearts. Their hats have a similar scheme. Team members include Cristóbal Torriente, Ken Williams, Bob Meusel, and Flame Delhi.

While there are 72 games to go in the season, right now it looks like we're heading toward a Yankees-Giants World Series. It ain't over until it's over, though, plus Lou Gehrig is on pace to beat Ruth's single-season HR record of 48 (with Hornsby just behind) and two Yankees pitchers could win 30!

Standings for the fictional simulation of the 1923 baseball season. Both the New York Yankees and New York Giants have significant leads in their leagues.

It's time for the Alt-1923 All-Star Game! Babe Ruth has been out most of the year due to injury, but his Red Sox teammate Tris Speaker was the lead votegetter for the AL. His eventual OTL teammate, Buffalo's Lou Gehrig, led all players. Cards for the starting 9 for each team are attached!

The Yankees' farm system is considered the best by the algorithm. Toronto's Lefty Grove is probably the biggest star, but there are several other real-life MLB stars on both teams. Toronto has won two pennants recently, while New Orleans is looking to finish above .500 for the first time.

The six minor leagues in the game run the gamut from the PCL where Sacramento (the Senators' AAA team) is running away from the field to the unaffiliated A-level leagues, both of which have ties for first place. The Yankees farm teams in Toronto and New Orleans are both in the hunt in their leagues.

Standings tables for the Pacific Coast League and International League. The Sacramento Senators have a 7-game lead in the PCL, the Toledo Mud Hens lead the Scranton Miners by 1 game with Montreal 2.5 back, Toronto 3 back, and Worcester 3.5 back.
Standings Tables for the Western and Southern Leagues. The Minneapolis Millers and Milwaukee Brewers are tied atop the Western League, with Des Moines a game back and Grand Rapids 2 games back. The Richmond Colts lead the Southern League by 0.5 games, with New Orleans and Charlotte tied for third, 2 games back.
The American Association and Eastern League only have 8 teams each. The Akron Pros and Dayton Ducks are tied atop the former, while the Manchester Textiles and Albany Patroons are tied atop the latter. Other teams are within 1-2 games of the top in both leagues, as well.

Some pennant races are better than others at this point. The Kansas City Packers have ticked off wins at a ferocious clip, and the defending champion New York Yankees have been the only ones close to keeping pace. The New York Giants lead a much tighter scrum in the NL.

Table of standings for the American and National Leagues. The Kansas City Packers lead the Yankees in the AL by 2.5 games, with the Washington Senators and Boston Red Sox tied for a distant 3rd. In the NL, the New York Giants lead Cincinnati and Pittsburgh by 2.5 games, with Philadelphia 3 back and St. Louis and Brooklyn 4 back.

We are at the quarter-pole for the majors in Alt-1923, with most teams having played about 40 games. The minor leagues have also played about 40 games, but that's more like 28% of their games. So, here's a thread with the current situation in the simulation as of 16 May 1923.
