I get why you wouldn't link to the statement, but...are you not gonna link to the statement?
From a writer but more so from a recently frustrated reader--give enough info when possible (full and correct terms, a publication title, a link, whatever) that your reader doesn't have to take your word for everything you're saying and knows where to find more detail if they want it.

Oh! The attention to masking I've seen has been universal across campuses and cities, so my guess would be it doesn't reflect on Columbia, but that's totally what it is, just a guess.
I can't speak for all the demonstrations and everyone involved, but a lot of the groups participating have been super responsible about community care in non-public gatherings, too, and making sure that everyone's masking needs are met. Both for allyship and for preventing general spreading.
