Even cheap surge protectors work folks! We had a power flicker and outage in Magnolia yesterday and it fried an 8-port switch we had on a regular power strip. Everything on the surge protector strips did fine. I'd always been a little skeptical, but there you go.

They do work! Sometimes they work only once, because MOVs are a consumable (especially in cheaper devices which may use parallel arrays of MOVs).

I did the whole house surge suppressor when upgrading the electrical panel for solar going in. Had a transformer pop Saturday at the street. Even my hardwired electronics came through unscathed. Not as cheap, but glad I did it.
