I think it’s great that social media has completely dispelled the notion that people are rich because they’re smarter than you

Oh god yes "we need to replicate the conditions of the 1930s to bring down obesity rates" that is some of the highest quality ignorant bullshit that's been posted in a minute

And then when politicians do finally notice, “We know! We got the answer! Let’s add tax!” Making things worse for people with a small food budget and just giving money to the ultra rich sugar and fastfood industries. But let’s not make good quality vegetables cheaper for everyone. Oh no, not that!

Wealth is definitely a good indicator of smarts at times, but there’s a lot of luck involved in riches too, especially anything over 7 figures, and anyone in that tax bracket that wont admit this shouldn’t be there.

First a century ago people were thin because they weren’t getting enough calories. It was actually a major public health problem. Second NYC’s obesity rates are lower than the national average for a variety of reasons, the biggest of which is people walk everywhere.

Take a look at Ireland in 1848. After decades of British control. There were no gyms, SoulCycles, yoga classes, or running shoes. There were no diets, Ozempic, USDA pyramids or degrees in nutrition science. Yet, look at how lean everyone is. There is no obesity. Makes you wonder.
