I hate air show weekend. 3 days of military jets and artillery demonstrations with none of the criticism fireworks receive regarding impacts to veterans…idk. I should have gone to the mountains this weekend instead.

Really good, really infuriating story, here. As plentiful and disgusting as the villains are—sadistic/cynical politicians big and small; orc-y cops carrying their odious work out—the bit I kept coming back to is how much shit good people have to put up with. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/inter...

Half the country has banned trans girls from competing in girls sports. Jessica Norton didn’t suspect she’d be punished under one of the bans.

First, context. America is mired in a pedestrian safety crisis. Deaths among those walking (and cycling, too) recently hit 40-year highs. No other rich country is experiencing anything like the chart below. Source: www.ghsa.org/resources/Pe...

Wow, I don't think I'd ever seen Georgia O'Keeffe's early NY skyscraper paintings! There's an exhibit closing soon in Chicago and getting ready to move to Atlanta hyperallergic.com/950026/first...

The Shelton with Sunspots, NY, 1926. A tall, dark skyscraper viewed from below looking up, with the glare of the sun in a cloudy sky obscuring part of the top of the building. Circles of orange and yellow dot the surrounding area, perhaps representing a lens flare.
Manhattan, 1932. A multicolored, abstracted, geometrical view of New York skyscrapers. We see tall white jagged rectangles, pink triangles, and brown jagged rectangles in the foreground, with a more familiar background of other overlapping buildings in blue and white—maybe some of the blue is sky. Depictions of three flower blossoms—blue, pink, and red—also dot the canvas.
City Night, 1926. Two abstracted skyscrapers—angled planes of black and gray—viewed from below looking up. A white shape—a third skyscraper—peeks out between the others.
Radiator Building—Night, New York, 1927. A skyscraper at night, black with many illuminated windows, with distinctive bright, curved decorative elements at its top. The sky is broken up by searchlights and smoke. We also see what looks like a neon-red sign that says Alfred Stieglitz.

This would be my dream football position but unfortunately, at a sturdy 65 inches, I’m probably slotted for running back.

NEWS: After more than 2.5 years of bargaining and mounting a nationwide strike threat, we have come to a tentative agreement with Audubon management. The 3 year deal is a direct result of the dedication and hard work of our membership. We will proceed with a ratification vote.
