WEEKS. I’m working with a PhD student who has a paper ready on the climate risks to US drinking water utilities. Science Policy Forum editors hmu.

Lived through that in Macon, Georgia, for five weeks in 1994. The National Guard will set up portable water purification plants for free drinking water before weeks’ end, I expect. We filled our bathtub before the water cut out and got by on a half-gallon a day for washing.
If looking at wildfire cases, there are still 100s in Santa Cruz Mountains with no drinking water, melted pipes, infrastructure, etc., from 2020 CZU wildfire. Big Basin Water Company utility is in receivership; might get sold to a water utility in Missouri (!!). www.mercurynews.com/2023/05/21/o...
Environmental incidents prove irresponsibility of ongoing addiction to plastics in critical infrastructure.
Oh my god
A natural disaster doesn’t need to turn into a catastrophe, but this one is. Weeks without drinking water??
