I really wish that outcomes and deliverables hadnât got so conflated everywhere, particularly in procurement frameworks across gov. Delivering an outcome is not the same as shipping a feature.
I think I might be among a minority (privilege likely showing) that supports having more highly paid civil servants (and across many grades).
I really like autumn; it's beautiful out, but I can actually see ... unlike summer.
A reminder that from October 2024, the Government Digital Service Accessibility Regulations monitoring team, will be checking public services, documents, intranets and mobile apps against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines v2.2 (1 of 2 posts) - #accessibility#a11y
Just wrapped up at Housing Community Conference today. Was good to see delegates from local gov and housing associations, as well as our friends and partners in the sector, and some central gov agencies weâve built digital services for with a stand. But my goodness itâs tiring exhibiting.

I wonder what âon average slower mail deliveryâ actually means in terms of knock on impact to the economy. Hard to imagine slower birthday cards will be a problem.. but transactional mail? Are there any services which behave like retail, whereby delaying a sale is functionally the same as less ÂŁ
Digital procurement can be painful. On one hand you can get tired managing loads of contracts (disaggregating to SMEs) but you can get some amazing results (Gourmet restaurant)⌠Or you go to a big corp for everything, for an easy life but you just know itâs going to be mediocre at best (McDonalds).
Have you considered how poor the service design is around light bulbs? The fitting says it takes a 60w bulb but Iâm getting a 5.9w 60w bulb. Realistically the fitting can take a 100w 15.5w bulb⌠and nobody can buy a filament bulb that actually consumes 100w anymore
