Very excited!

The same phrase appears placed in the mouth of the king in an unusually self-reflective Ashurbanipal inscription. Do we have an Assyrian "Wilhelm Scream" here? Source: oracc.org/rinap/Q007593/

The death of the Cimmerian leader Tugdummê in Ashurbanipal's royal inscriptions. I don't think the translation "Woe! Alas!" in RINAP 5/1 23 really captures the essence of what's being said here...it's just onomatopoetic screaming!

Tried to geolocate briefly. Plume seems about 0.5 to 1 mile north of the temples, but not high confidence. Definitely not inside the main temple complex but not sure how far away exactly.

The peer review struggle is real. I've been trying for several months to find peer reviewers for five chapters in an edited volume. So far I've asked 24 people: 3 accepted, 3 declined, and I haven't heard anything from the other 18.

And still no evidence that the strikes were anywhere close to the temples.

There's no evidence presented here these airstrikes were even close to the monuments in question. Yet the article is full of alarmist statements decrying the silence from the world about things that aren't happening.

But they're not targeting them in Lebanon now, or at least there is no evidence of this that's been presented in this article or anywhere else. So that doesn't make a pattern. And, the article doesn't mention Gaza but Palmyra, Bamiyan, etc. This article is misinformation and should not be spread.

No one is bombing the Roman temples at Baalbek. Everyone please stop spreading alarmist nonsense.

Absurdly alarmist article. Why is it comparing deliberate destruction of cultural heritage to a military conflict which happens to be taking place in a country that also contains cultural heritage sites, with no evidence that these sites have been targeted or are even close to the fighting?
