The same phrase appears placed in the mouth of the king in an unusually self-reflective Ashurbanipal inscription. Do we have an Assyrian "Wilhelm Scream" here? Source: oracc.org/rinap/Q007593/

Tried to geolocate briefly. Plume seems about 0.5 to 1 mile north of the temples, but not high confidence. Definitely not inside the main temple complex but not sure how far away exactly.

And still no evidence that the strikes were anywhere close to the temples.

There's no evidence presented here these airstrikes were even close to the monuments in question. Yet the article is full of alarmist statements decrying the silence from the world about things that aren't happening.

But they're not targeting them in Lebanon now, or at least there is no evidence of this that's been presented in this article or anywhere else. So that doesn't make a pattern. And, the article doesn't mention Gaza but Palmyra, Bamiyan, etc. This article is misinformation and should not be spread.

Absurdly alarmist article. Why is it comparing deliberate destruction of cultural heritage to a military conflict which happens to be taking place in a country that also contains cultural heritage sites, with no evidence that these sites have been targeted or are even close to the fighting?

What about all the "Handbooks" whose goal is primarily to summarize the current state of knowledge on a topic?

Has the quality of ambitious edited volumes improved since the 1990s?

Of course, one could argue that the centralization of power in the person of the king in the late Assyrian period is why so many new palaces were being built and renovated and why archives were centralized in the capital, where they could be discarded into these layers.
