There continues to be only one way out of the region, the other 3 being cut off due to major road damage (I'm talking interestates, here.) The Feds are airlifting in relief supplies, as getting them in via I26 from SC was taking too long (and that state is heavily damaged as well.)There continues to be only one way out of the region, the other 3 being cut off due to major road damage (I'm talking interestates, here.) Governor Cooper was in AVL yesterday, along with the head of FEMA, and relief is finally rolling. But many, many areas are completely cut off and will be hard to reach. Just our geography makes this a challenge, and with the trees downed and so much debris, areas are impassable.Governor Cooper was in AVL yesterday, along with the head of FEMA, and relief is finally rolling. The news from #Asheville#WNC continues to be dire. Areas like Black Mountain and Swannanoa have been absolutely devastated. They are now saying that the worst-hit spots received 30" of rain. Exacerbated by climate change, we were under a fire hose...
#Asheville got almost 20ā of rain and everything is a mess. No power no water, cell came back last night. So many people cut off. Of the 4 ways in only one is open. People running out of food, water, gasoline. Terrible situation here in the mountains. Weāre very fortunate others not.
