It’s impressive how making biking just a little easier improves up-take. And oh, more actually protected lanes would make it even better.

It can be more than just a little. I took up cycling again (after 40 years) *only* because electric-assist allowed me to pedal up a steep hill (I live at the bottom of a hole). I knew that after failing on a regular bike I’d give up. Now: 80%+ of my trips are by bike (inc riding to take a train).
