Austin has a very outdoorsy culture, especially given that we aren't particularly blessed with outdoor features. Our best feature is underground water bubbling up, springs and cenotes. Nothing like the nature out your backdoor.

There's some kind of lake where people go swimming too, which we went to as well. It is quite close to the city center. I found Austin very agreeable. (probably because we went at Halloween when it is not so hot)
