Who am I to not give the people what they want
Classic mistake
That account got pretty weird at the end

The reviews on the idea are in and they're all bad: - "Orwellian" - "will result in lasting negative impacts to an already overburdened community" - "There needs to be a serious reckoning at NYSDOT" nyc.streetsblog.org/2024/09/24/c...
All of this is also happening at the same time as the city, state and federal government are supposed to be working to cap the Cross Bronx. But NYSDOT wants federal money for this connector road expansion too nyc.streetsblog.org/2024/09/24/c...
NYSDOT is also really acting like this isn't a highway expansion, to the point where the only time "induced demand" comes up is in the context of the bus lane that has no actual bus service nyc.streetsblog.org/2024/09/24/c...
"You're tying [the neighborhoods] together for motorists in the neighborhood. We're not connecting people to be able to walk to the corner store. You're connecting people to be able to drive from West Farms to the mall in Co-op City," one Bronx activist said nyc.streetsblog.org/2024/09/24/c...
The state Department of Transportation, which is already widening the Cross Bronx Expressway by building a service road over a park, is now planning a second piece of the "Orwellian" project.
Don't forget too, that the initial renderings of the first proposed piece of the connector road show something as big and tall as the elevated portion of the Cross Bronx itself
