My wife and I were in Halifax in July, 2010 and read of the July 18 death of Anne Welsh, age 94. At 23 months, "Ashpan Annie" Liggens had been blown under a kitchen stove by the Halifax explosion. The residual heat helped her survive until dug from the debris 26 hours later.
