Oh, I agree with your first statement. There's a hell of a lot we should've done years or decades ago to prevent this. But the idea that we could/should now just throw up our hands and let Boeing fail and take most of our aerospace industry down with it is absurd.

Oh I don't really intend to suggest that -- industrial strategy in this case could look like nationalising Boeing and firing the entire upper echelon of management, as an example. But it's not really relevant to how well the US economy has been doing lately.
