Just read about the Shirky Principle, which seems to apply very well to the profession of IPAC (Infection Prevention and Control) “Institutions will try to preserve the problem to which they are the solution.”

Also on the basis that their members have been very shirky in their attitude toward responsibility.

Or to misquote Meat Loaf "I'll do anything for [Infection Prevention], but I won't do that [require N95s]"

The Shirky Principle especially applies to greenhouse gas emissions, where governments pledge to reduce emissions only to continue to permit fossil fuel expansion by buying pipelines, issuing extraction permits, etc.
