V good! The social-media-driven pivot towards attention means there is a thriving ecosystem that perfects what you want to hear. Depth of analysis is no longer an evolutionary advantage in social media Darwinism. The Conservatives searching for a narrative of defeat brings this into sharp relief.

Back in the day when BT were desperate to avoid full fibre rollout their line was that nobody needed more because there was no idea what they would do with it (ridiculous, but it worked). IMO when 1Gig symmetric is ubiquitous people will come up with innovative ways to use it - and need more!

In honor of National Poetry Day: my now-6th grader wrote this in spring of 2020 when he was FRUSTRATED BEYOND BELIEF about writing poetry.

A page in a lined notebook has a poem written on in pencil reading:
I think
I had
an idea for a poem
But now
it is out of my minnd
and wandering around
the house
somewhere

Clearly they've segmented you in their data as a reasonably well off middle class person. If you were poor, it wouldn't be about saving you money; it would be 2for1 offers on crap that will eventually kill you.

On immediate reflection I don't want to put words in Stephen's mouth - I don't know how he arrived at that view, only that it will be sourced.

I mean, you don't have to agree - but this is the point of disagreement. Not sure there's much new to say. Except possibly that 'unverifiable' is a bit...well. Stephen is saying the civil servants he worked for thought he showed leadership - means he spoke to them. bsky.app/profile/step...

We need to raise the debate ✅ He's the best of a poor field ✅ "no achievements to speak of and no obvious leadership qualities" ❌ It's that last one that was the clear point of disagreement.

I know 'bit of a lad' can be a coded way of saying 'sexist', but it wasn't what I meant. He is the best of a very poor field though.

Good point! Instinctively I doubt it. I also wonder if the negotiators are even aware of it.
