Wetherspoons is a Sisyphusian ritual of "It can't be as bad as last time. Let's order some food that arrives half an hour late and cold and then the bar staff point you towards an invisible manager to complain to." Rinse and repeat.
Dad hated the cinema ("the last film I watched was Ben Hur and I hated it") but something convinced him to take a 6 year old me to see Star Wars in the opening week. Imagine your first experience of the big screen being that Star Destroyer booming overhead. The love affair with film started there.
