For my whole life, conservative politics has argued that letting rich people keep more of their money would, because of their rich-guy genius, redound to the greater good. That was always unconvincing, but we did it anyway and among other things it has delivered the absolute worst posts in history.
Absolute fallacy. Rich people save their money - fine if it provides money for business investment - but who wants to invest if demand is not strong? Conversely, poor people spend all their money which keeps money circulating. We also tend to save more in uncertain times.
buncha reply guys paying lower taxes is always a recipe for disaster
The shitty thing is that the working class didn’t appreciate how good they had it before Reganomics elbowed in. Watch “Blue Collar” (78) the plot is literally “kill the thieving union! In an era where an auto worker’s paycheck could support their whole family, multiple cars, and vacation homes”
at least something's trickling down I guess
You play ball or act or sell a widget and make some money. Somehow someone else has to decide how much of your money you get to keep? What has the world got to???
What I find interesting about the Rich-should-rule-because-their-rich-genius worldview is Why is being rich a measure of genius anyway? Seems like compassion at a genius level is more valuable to leading humans…
Billionaires need to learn the value of hard work (forcing you to log off once in a while)
It’s so crazy how we used to have an unspoken agreement that the ultra rich leave us alone and we try to pretend some of them are decent people. Now, they’re all needy and desperate for attention. “We get to have all the money and you have to like us.” When did they get so desperate?
I remember when they said rich people would use the extra money to create more jobs and higher wages, what a con🤣
it's been a really exhausting journey watching people call belligerent monsters "smart" all the time, like the kids from regis HS are the ones up there raking in all the bucks?
