I think sometimes about a hypothetical arrogant Cubs fan in November 1908. His team has just won its second consecutive World Series (after three straight appearances). Heâs constantly in your face about his teamâs never ending success thinking nothing can possibly ever go wrong for his Cubbies.
Something silly that occurred to me in 2016 is the only times a president whose surname started with a âTâ won an election since the World Series started in 1903 were Willian H. Taft in 1908 (Cubs) Harry Truman in 1948 (Guardians last title) and Trump in 2016 (Cubs last title).
As chaotic as the Game 161/162 doubleheader is, the chaos under the old tiebreaker system would have been far greater. A split would have led to two extra tiebreaker games among the three teams (only one of them would have played twice) to determine who got into the playoffs
damn this is a good take
Really disappointing to see one of the hottest teams in baseball, the Chicago White Sox, not able to carry their momentum into the playoffs
me when I win my fantasy league based on some ridiculous thing happening yet another year
ALT: a cartoon character wearing a blue hoodie is standing in front of a fire .
I havenât yelled about the ghost runner rule/ties lately but câmon itâs a meaningless 162nd game for Reds/Cubs
Pitcher balked with Shohei on second so Shohei got to take 3rd at likely his last at-bat so he wonât be able to steal his 60th base. You could say he balked so Shohei couldnât run.
"you seen this bears offense? the bears offense is so dead, RFK jr got caught trying to dump it in central park"
The Braves, their fans, and a big chunk of their media had a major shit fit 12 months ago because a reporter broke the imaginary etiquette clubhouse rules and the shit fit lasted for multiple days. Iâm almost certain the whining over this would be way worse
