I recently learnt of the existence of the United States Spruce Production Division during the First World War. Genuinely fascinating! This book is also available online and well worth a flick through: archive.org/details/Hist... 🗃️
OTD in 1901 Witold Pilecki was born. He voluntarily entered Auschwitz to prove its existence and was later shot by Stalin's secret police for “working with foreign imperialism”.
Thank you Lucy, yes Thiepval is just that I totally agree which is why it has to be in the top five for me. Thank you for the chat it has been a pleasure, take care and have a good day 👍😀.
Vimy is always a favourite as is Thiepval on the Somme and the Ecoivres cemetery near Arras as my great uncle rests there with his chums. So there are three Lucy that if I had to do as list would be in the top five for me.
I totally get that Lucy and I did not intend to suggest that in anyway, I know how passionate you are regarding the history of ww1 and have the greatest respect for your opinions which is why I follow you and enjoy the content you put up for discussion. 😀
I do not have a favourite I get the same feeling from all of them when walking amongst hero's. Lest we forget.
