I got COVID at WorldCon despite masking. Being the only one masked in a room (or anywhere without proper airflow/filtration) improves your odds, but doesn't guarantee anything. Venues need to improve ventilation; events need to encourage proper masking, which DOES reduce spread.

I agree. I'm just concerned that the perception of how commonly mask failure happens is skewed by social media reports of failure that was caused by masks not being worn properly. Same concern for rapid antigen test performance and outdoor transmission.
