I agree. I'm just concerned that the perception of how commonly mask failure happens is skewed by social media reports of failure that was caused by masks not being worn properly. Same concern for rapid antigen test performance and outdoor transmission.

I see "I wear a mask everywhere and still got covid" posts pop up on social media, and I wonder how many of them fit this category. It's unfortunate because I think those posts cause a lot of doubt and anxiety for folks :(

When I was in my 20s, I was traveling to NYC and on a bus in Queens. Another person (presumably lifelong NYC resident) asked me where I was from, and I replied Minnesota. They had never heard of it. The genuinely confused stare they gave me is seared in my brain.
