it's increasingly hard for me to see the path for Trump if he doesn't at least hold the line if not actually improve with college-educated white voters compared to 2020 and that would take a pretty bigtime polling error among those voters and it would also be totally against trend
I'm not saying it would solve ALL of our cultural problems if we went back to making movies that open with a slow pan across a cityscape at night while soft sax music plays, but I do think it would solve some of them
like, at some point, i just really want people to explain what their plan is to account for the 30-35% of voters in America who have concerted right-wing views, or the substantial share of voters in any democracy who have right-wing views, in this scenario where there aren't any right-wing parties
Once again I have found myself in The Mummy (1999) Trap, which is what happens when I want to watch a movie with the exact vibes, quality, aesthetic, etc of The Mummy (1999) but I don't want to just rewatch The Mummy (1999)
problem is that the transmission channels & audience for procedurals increasingly don't exist anymore (at least in US) like you could do Columbo-style TV mystery of the week stuff still but I think the classic week-in week-out procedural audience is basically all ppl over 50 at this point
the rarity of good prose is so depressing, and i think a lot of the time, the reason people are bad at writing prose clearly is because they're bad at thinking at clearly
seriously, every time i have a chicken salad sandwich or a BLT and an iced coffee for lunch, i briefly feel like i'm part of a humane and mature civilization
the perfect thing to have for lunch when it's too hot out is a chicken salad sandwich and an iced coffee (coincidentally this is what i had for lunch today)
