I’ve been in Omaha for 10 years trying to figure out why the Huskers struggle despite the resources they put in. CFB doesn’t favor Big Corn Boys in quite the same way that it used to, but there are institutional problems, here, too, despite a strong brand. I just assume the BoR are the issue.
Re the two programs I’ve paid attention to as a midwestern dude, I like Mick Cronin (I’m a UC guy) and know you’ll compete, which is all you can do in cbb. But the football thing baffles me. Always has. Maybe it’s that the fans in bama have bama to cheer for and LA is LA with what LA offers.
Having been to LA and many other cities as a young man, I would count LA as one of the best cities to be in for lads who are awesome at sports. Why is UCLA not a prime spot? Serious question if you have thoughts, just seems like an awesome place to be on a full ride (+$ now).
There’s just no bigger story in politics than the republicans have largely given up on democracy. It’s really the only story. I like voting, and choosing who to vote for. Most of us do. One party is proposing we shouldn’t get to do that. No other policy from the Dems comes close to this issue.
It’s weird to have watched the media shriek about how Biden, an old guy, was slightly older than the other old guy and how important it was. But when it comes to paying consistent lip service to the republic that bestows the freedom of the press, that is apparently a bridge too far.
I don't recall this volume of ads in state wide elections in prior years here in Omaha. Fischer/Osborn and Bacon/Vargas are in every major prime time event. College football, NFL, debates, etc. Fischer and Bacon sure are spending like there's something to fight about.
A portion of the Trump housing plan is to build on federal land? What? You can build all the houses you want in rural Nebraska right now. People don’t want to live there. We’ve got plenty of land already in places people actually want to live. Build there. This isn’t hard.
The same folks that are underselling Walz are the same folks that think normal folks care about the “fire in the crowded theater” remark. Not speaking pundit and being head of the debate club is precisely what Walz brings to the table.
