This wasn’t an episode of Parks & Recreation; it was over 30 neighbors (condo owners) showing up to express their sincere outrage & anger that a developer would propose a 225-unit complex on an open field next to a Whole Foods in the midst of a housing crisis. #a2counciltwitter.com/donnell/stat...

I'm still ruminating on the fact 250 neighbors signed a petition to block 1,000 new neighbors from moving into the neighborhood. This is how individual & community resistance to new housing developments can be hostile, break the social contract, & contribute to the housing crisis. #a2council

On a call with Washtenaw County leaders discussing the racial disparities that exist in our county. "Black people are almost 4.1 times more likely to appear in a warrant request than their demographic share would suggest." At 12% of the county population, this is quite astounding.

Pre-ordered The Exchange by John Grisham hoping it would be good. It was not. I should have read this NY Times review first. "The Plinko Bounce," despite its problematic elements, felt like a better read. Wished Clark had made different choices regarding the portrayal of racial elements in the plot.

Skip “The Exchange,” our columnist advises, and pick up “The Plinko Bounce” or “The Last One” instead.

“The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it.” - P.J. O'Rourke
