Super impressed with my research team these days - we have SO MUCH going on & they are killing it, while maintaining high quality & thoughtfulness. For example, we just submitted our 4th paper of the week! 2 spruce-ups for new journals & 2 entirely new, really glad to see their hard work paying off.
#WearRedDay is always big for me professionally, but it’s personal this year after having open heart surgery in August.* Thank you NHLBI, Go Red For Women, & AHA for raising awareness about women’s heart health & Penn Medicine for providing great care ❤️🩹 *Congenital, not CVD but some overlap!
Thanks! Most likely physical stress - driving, walking, standing for long periods is still harder for me than it used to be, had to do a lot last week. Been able to WFH this week, which has helped. We’ll see what happens being in person again. Managing psych stress pretty well, I think! ❤️🩹
Rough few weeks: bad weather = treadmill (miss my geese friends), then return to work triggered my first-ever *gout* experience. Yes, the vegan who rarely drinks still got it. So painful, can’t walk. Likely meds + stress, of course the answer is more meds! And keeping my foot up. Walking with a 🦯😒🤨
Past 2 weeks have been incredibly hectic & stressful, but I got a lovely surprise today. Not sure how this happened - I don’t know how APA got the info, but I’m sure glad they did! Delighted to have this work highlighted by the leading US psych organization. #AcademicSkywww.apa.org/monitor/2024...
Such a long day. State of emergency due to flooding last night, had to go to my waterlogged campus office & deal w/staff performance issues, very sore ❤️🩹 Highlight was definitely planning *two* international visits w/ @lauramkoenig.bsky.social#AcademicSky
Places like this exist!? 🤯🤯🤯
Enjoyed a lovely weekend at home this week. Despite the cold and the start of freezing on the pond, my geese friends persisted! ❤️🩹 And I got to run errands, catch up with friends, review applications to our Ph.D. program, & prep for another crazy week. Back at it tomorrow 🤓 #AcademicSky
Delivering one, not having one done on me! My research team is testing an 8-week program to promote physical activity among women with specific health conditions. Huge logistical challenges but it’s coming together, and we have a lot of interest so far 🤓
