Inter alia why signal people on the railway are all called Bobby too, though I suspect that's fading as boxes are closed in favour of centralised control.

Is the right answer, but specifically the stripped back, ultra cool version he was doing in about 2000, with Gail Ann Dorsey holding the whole damn thing together with an impeccable groove youtu.be/bsYp9q3QNaQ?...

Occasionally I remember coming across an area of Durham woodland with fading nuclear warning signs. Turns out the boffins had unwisely tried to map squirrel territories by feeding them radioactive nuts. The sixties was wild.

That really comes out in Maskerade, where Weatherwax can apply pressure at the right points, but Ogg slyly twisting people around her is the real secret to solving matters. For me that's the book where Pratchett finally understood both characters.

It's heavily implied, if not outright stated, that Nanny Ogg is more naturally talented. Esme (as with Tiffany in her generation) was driven to become more powerful. The level of respect between the two friends is off the scale though. Both know the other is capable of things they aren't.

Up on the science site over two decades ago, heading towards Houghall, but tbh it needed somebody to show me. I managed to get attacked by a badger up there without any assistance though, if that makes up for it?

I spend an unholy amount of time online joshing with, and being gently corrected by, historians. I've never once thought they were trying to hide their arcane knowledge...
