just want to say the paladin in my D&D campaign in the 80s went on to become a colonel in the USAF, so I claim to have educated a generation of the US military in combat tactics

I worked with and played with a couple of SIGINT analysts. They described a radar-esque system with a lantern on the watch’s head, turning. DM closed his eyes, sighed, and then described everything this detected.

It's not exactly what you're looking for, but the people who run the NSDMG/War College Track at DragonCon are mostly ex-government types who do RPGs of a similar sort. Might be interesting to reach out to them.
