A research group has produced a new partner hire scorecard, rating Research I universities based on the policies and practices for partner hires: partnerhirescorecard.org/ranking

I'm so conflicted on this issue. I get the importance of partner hires, but it also seems like ed schools are often asked to hire the partners in areas that may not be the greatest need.

When I most recently interviewed, at each of four places I met with an Assoc Dean who was no part of the search committee and played no role in the search. But they were in the person to tell if there was a partner. No promises, but they wanted to work on things ahead of any offer. It helped.
