Check the chart. Guess who's in the top ten? Me. Ahaha. (Go home, serial adder.) Yes, I know, I *still* haven't created the science feeds I promised. That's because I'm on my phone. There's no wifi here. Communities of Scientists are Emerging on Bluesky mikeyoungacademy.dk/communities-...

In the cold waters of the Pacific coast of the US & Canada are forests of giant kelp, Macrocystis pyrifera. Under optimal conditions, they can grow as much as 2 feet (0.6 m) per day, to heights of 175 ft. Let's talk about the weirdness of giant #kelp & how it can help us.

A photo of fronds of giant kelp blocking light in shallow marine waters. Sun appears at the upper part of the photo, filtering through greenish leaves on long stalks.

The recall has not been updated or expanded since July, but ppl are continuing to get sick (& in the case of 1 person, die) because they’re not checking UPC codes, product codes, & expiry dates of what they’ve bought. LOOK UP YER PLANTY-MILKZZZ HERE: recalls-rappels.canada.ca/en/alert-rec...

Good feature of the New York Times on climate tipping points, with interactive graphics. Ignoring these fossil-fueled risks to humanity‘s future while shouting „drill baby drill“ isn’t just weird, it’s criminally irresponsible. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Earth’s warming could trigger sweeping changes in the natural world that would be hard, if not impossible, to reverse.

All life on Earth – oaks, mosses, microbes, elephants, fungi, blue whales, shrews, people – evolved from a single common ancestor, some 4.2 billion years ago. We are all KIN. That thought alone should be enough to cease all the wars we are waging on each other, and on nature 🌏
