The worst knee-jerk reason for deregulation that I hear from everyday (often older) people is: "I survived without it." YOU did, yes, because that's how Survivor Bias works. How many people will say, "Drinking poison in my milk killed me"? Not. Many. I. Wonder. Why. [Teeth grinding increases]

So we had the “depression is just a rich educated person’s ailment, none of my family who were hard working illiterate farmers have that problem” convo at dinner once and I just looked over at dad and just said “yeah cuz the ones who did have it are most likely dead”.

One of the finest generals this country has produced. An incredible man to interview. It is not hyperbole to say that he prevented a war with Russia in the Balkans, when Wes Clark was determined to start one. I wrote about it here. authory.com/JohnBull/Pri...

"Sir. I will not start World War Three for you." British General Mike Jackson to US General Wes Clark, while refusing the order to storm the Russian-held Pristina Airport with British and Norwegian troops. June, 1999. RIP to one of our finest.

I would love bike boxes that you open/close with your credit card.

I cycle, and the only reason I won't stop and buy something along the way when out and about by bike, is exclusively because there aren't good places to lock it safely while leaving it. Would love more locks that aren't tucked away, that also keep bikes safe from vandalism.

There’s no way to find the “right” one. My great-grandparents’ dishwasher was an off the shelf Sears-Kenmore daily driver bought in 1982 and it was still working in 2010 when my gran replaced it in a kitchen remodel. While I went through 2 Boschs in 15 years in our last house (and this Bosch is 8.)

I responded to a wapo reporter who was posting on this subject, he ignored me completely even though I was his first responder. But he totally interacted with a club member Chris Hayes. Sigh
