Yes, the proximity could be a problem. Haunted attraction actors often use it as the staying power is second to none and they are performing for hours at a time, so it makes sense there. Casual use for a couple hours is overkill. I will have to look around for other options!
I have used Mehron cremes (water based) as their coverage is not bad and the cleanup is east enough. You would think grease paint would get the job done though! Alcohol based makeups might do the trick but the residue lasts awhile. Perhaps a football eye black?

There weren’t even Halloween decorations on display, they jumped over it entirely!
Went to Salvation Army and they already have Christmas items out, no surprise. I did buy some heavy rubber boots, a repair is needed but that won’t take long.
