In our comments, neither Kristian or I denied that marketing might play a role. What I take issue with is its prioritisation, esp to neglect or disavowal of structural change. As part of an integrated approach, however, then yes let's use behavioural insights too to support & complement transitions.

Yes, persuasion is necessary, but truthful (i.e. non-manipulative) persuasion is more durable and capable of driving transformative change, more than nudges at the margins. It's also less likely to breed mistrust, cynicism and scattered attention. doi.org/10.3167/th.2...
