Sometimes I think about an anthropology class I took in college, where the professor said, "We can tell a lot about how a society has progressed when we can see signs of them taking care of their injured and disabled people. You can extrapolate that how you wish."
This is precisely why when anyone asks me (and it happens a lot!) if XYZ tech gives me hope, my answer is āyāall canāt even do ramps. Why would I download anything tech makes to my body?ā

This is also why I get pissed when AI is pitched as something that will help the disabled and therefore is worth whatever it costs. (They say with shiny, innocent eyes.) You're not even doing to the cheap practical things to help the disabled. Hell, you're not preventing more people being disabled.
