Margaret Sullivan, former public editor of the New York Times, calls out newspaper for "false balance nonsense" in coverage of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, writing its "politics coverage often seems broken and clueless — or even blatantly pro-Trump." loom.ly/00eaDZE

The mainstream media is still getting it wrong about Trump

Important piece. But this should be appearing in a major paper. USA Today, perhaps? They’ve been better than the allegedly elite press on their oped page.

The thing is you can't both sides Trump because he's so ridiculous. Just acting like the two candidates are different sides of the same coin is giving him way too much credit. How can you both sides "let's inject bleach into people with COVID" vs "we should encourage people to wear masks."

My first take was also wtf, but now I'm not so sure. This feels different than the other false equivalence/balance articles because it's so absurd.

Unfortunately, our system of getting our news is very badly broken. Plenty of free advice available, but they just don't appear to be interested.

Harris has a solution and Trump has a final solution, and other ways their agendas are similar. -NYT
