The new normal is a moving target. None of our systems are designed for that.

Oh, this participant is really not going to like Chapter 4 (barriers to transformative change and how to overcome them) of the upcoming IPBES Transformative Change Assessmentā€¦(approval plenary in December). Buddy, science is a manifestation of particular social structures/histories.

I might turn this account into a "Did Florida State improve its negotiating position with the ACC?" bot. NO 1-4, with losses to, well, everyone. Congrats on beating Cal a week ago, but getting hammered by SMU yesterday?

Co-sign. Most climate vulnerability is not about the climateā€¦the climate just makes other vulnerabilities and inequalities worse. The gender and adaptation kit has been trying to make this point for a while!

Re: this, I have been working on how to organize adaptation evidence to get us past the (very lazy) ā€œadaptation is too locally-specific to offer general lessonsā€ framing that seems to predominate right now. Framework article is out, applications articles are in prep.

Adaptation rationales and benefits: A foundation for understanding adaptation impact

Efforts to achieve coordinated, effective, and impactful adaptation outcomes are complicated by factors ranging from the local specificity of adaptatiā€¦

Thanks! This seems to read ā€œthe empirical trend appears to be toward larger storms, but the models disagree on future trendsā€¦ā€

Thought #2 after #climateweek#locallyled#adaptation risk making those most vulnerable to impacts responsible for fixing what are usually systemic causes not of their making. Push co-creating more!

Thought #1 after #climateweek: People are much too confident about their data in terms of intervention impacts & efficacy. There is a lot of data out there, but it is poorly organized (if at all). The data I see (and analysis built on it) is questionable in terms of representativeness and quality.
