It amuses me that ארון, which I can’t help but think of as “ark”, as in ארון קדש, the holy ark in which a sefer torah is stored, or ארון הברית, the Ark of the Covenant, is also just the regular modern Hebrew word for closet.

Makes doing the laundry feel much more meaningful: I am not putting my clothes in the closet, I am depositing my vestments in the ark.
