This!! I wanted so badly for my parents to be able to stay at home as they started to need care, but their house was in a state that it truly wasn’t habitable without extensive cleaning/decluttering/updating so it just wasn’t possible. It’s the biggest thing I regret about their passing. 😭
You guys are not gonna like hearing this, but: You're not accumulating any less crap than your parents did. I've seen the backgrounds of your Zoom calls. If you think trying to get rid of your parents' Norman Rockwell plates is hell, wait until your kids have to get rid of your Eggbug plushie.

Baby boomers spent decades buying stuff. Now they have to have difficult conversations with their kids about what to keep and what to throw away.
I am still trying to clean out my parents’ house. I thought I was doing pretty well, but we just got all the stuff out of the attic (it’s a 1960s ranch so it’s more like a crawl space in the ceiling) and OMG. 😳😳😳😳😳😳🫠 It’s almost another house worth of… stuff. 💀💀💀💀💀
