It's false to claim that the protocol is temporary. Johnson's version removed all the references to it being temporary. It can be amended by mutual consent, or a majority of the Northern Ireland assembly can partly refuse consent unilaterally. But Jenrick doesn't care what the NI majority think.

This would be very good: often they can get money for projects, but not their core costs.

Lol… I am pro-EU. I try to make certain that the EU does not get hollowed out by those that want benefits without obligations. For sure the interests of 450 million people are very important.

The EU does not need this as much as you do. We are bigger and we can - and do - make sure that a deal is better for us. Note it will be like this with everything: EU is larger than UK and any deal will be tilted to our interests.

As I said: If you don't want to have a 'give and take', you are not ready, and we should do nothing. We can try again in a few years.

I know. UK students also pay external rates in the EU now, which are also very high (15 - 50 KEuro).

It is not very democratic to let 14% of the people determine this for all, but if UK wants that it should do so. Likewise, if the other 86% of the people let that happen, they don't want it enough and they don't deserve Youth Mobility.

UK university fees are hugely expensive: about 10,000 Euro while it is 2500 Euro in the Netherlands (for EU students), and even less in many parts of Germany.

I think a Youth Mobility deal is good for the youth in UK and for youth in EU. Especially the UK youth are now stuck on the island without opportunity to experience Europe. The EU offer is generous, but if UK does not want to take it they should not, and we put everything on ice for now

I am pretty sure that the UK will accept a youth mobilty deal with EU. There will be some give-and-take, since the EU proposal was maximalist (maybe a - high - cap), but the essence is that UK needs this more than we. Also: a youth mobiliy scheme is popular in UK.
