Actually yes! Because stream chat is a party where it's polite to say "hi" as a way of offering your participation! In DMs it's tantamount to, essentially, cornering someone in the bathroom.
Then you ask questions that can be answered by looking at the stream title.
I mean… you’re not wrong. Bots and scammers ruined the simple “hi” in DMs, but it remains a welcome sight in streams.
Yup! Because in DMs or IMs, you have all the time in the world to give a good impression. But in a stream, things are moving. Also, just the simple act of saying "hello" says "I am here, and I am engaging" which is good in streams!
