Because to me, whoever it is, it's still the choice between not-your-favorite-flavor of ice cream, and getting your foot run over by an eighteen-wheeler. Let's learn our lesson. Stay focused. Salvage what's left of this democratic experiment.
If you have decided, after all the evidence, that you like Tr*mp, go with (your baffling version of) God. But if you do not like Tr*mp, if you do not want him to be the King that his Supreme Court has anointed, PLEASE, get behind whomever is the Democratic nominee.
But "Should Biden drop out?!" CLICKS. They did this. They did this for a few months of clicks when they should have learned that they were complicit in getting Tr*mp elected the first time. And we should have learned that they were. But they didn't. And we haven't.
And I'm furious at the media for whipping up the fervor that has thrown us into this chaos. They got us here. They know that Tr*mp's word salad Hannibal Lecter references won't register on the Richter scale of his Actual Crimes, so no one will click.
It was pretty clear to me that it was the choice between not-my-favorite-flavor of ice cream and getting my foot run over by an eighteen-wheeler. All this said, I'm incredibly moved by the patriotism, principle, and selflessness of Biden's decision.
I was never a Biden stan. But I've come to recognize that, post-Obama, anyone I stan isn't going to be voted in by the polarized electorate. In 2020, I just wanted the party to nominate an older white dude, so this country's misogyny wouldn't give us another 4 years of Tr*mp.
As a child, I was confused as to how Nixon was elected in 1968, having a sense of the political atmosphere at the time. Then I learned about RFK's assassination, and the pandemonium of the Democratic convention. That's what has terrified me during this entire inside job on Biden.
Yep, pretty much!
Obviously, I know that my processing is not the main issue. With the most recent Supreme Court news I thought, "I do not have the bandwidth for this," (life has been a lot lately), & then I imagined a well-meaning German in 1933 being like, "I don't have the bandwidth for this."
Do not feel like my traditions of wearing my "Don't Tread on Me" uterus shirt and posting Langston Hughes' "Let America Be America Again" are going to cut it
