Little call-out for help to historians of France! I'd like to consult some documents at the Bibliothèque de l'Institut de France, but I need some recommendations from existing members – are there any out there who wouldn't mind? 🙏 🇫🇷 🗃️

It’s been a few years since I last went but I just emailed the librarian with my CV and a summary of my research project and she told me how to obtain the requisite letter from an academician.

Hmmm, in my experience just write to the librarian explaining why you need to go. It worked for me. I think the recommandation is just something they put to limit the number of curious readers.

I worked there in April. I did not need letters, just a project description (with cotes)of my project & CV, in French. All this is on the website under "informations pratiques."
